When ELITE has more than one network device it does not know what adapter to send position data, this step you must do when you have more than one adapter.
While not optimal you could disable the network not used, but on cases you can not, then if you follow this procedure then Foreflight will work with ELITE.
Assuming your firewall is not blocking the ports, then you must go into the iPad configure page (ALT Y).
In the Foreflight tab, press Config.
Select a different adapter and press select.
Assuming that you have the iPad and the simulator on the same network, and you have no firewall rules, then Foreflight connection should look like this.
